Ingredients – dates, hazelnuts, almonds, cocoa powder, vanilla powder, almond oil.
I couldn’t get a photo of this bar (I took the photo from The Primal Pantry website). I ate it as a snack during the break at my first Tai Chi workshop. Obviously, as I was meeting a new group of people, I wanted to be undercover and pass as “normal”. I thought photographing a snack bar might be a bad first impression.
Anyway, moving on from my neuroses, this bar was yummy. Sweet but not cloying; it provided an energy boost to get me through the second half of the session.
Nakd Bakewell Tart
INGREDIENTS: Dates, cashews, raisins, natural flavouring.
Brain: No way, I don’t believe that this can taste like Bakewell tart.
Taste buds: OMG! It totally tastes like Bakewell tart. This is the best raw food bar ever!
Heart : Boys, come try this delicious thing. It tastes exactly like Bakewell tart.
Brain: I think you have forgotten that they have never eaten Bakewell tart, have no idea what you are talking about, and are stepping away from the scary, over excited Mummy.
INGREDIENTS: cashews, agave syrup, dark chocolate chips, brown rice protein, BioSprouts.
Little wouldn’t even try this; he said that it smelt too much. I didn’t notice anything so I went ahead and tried it. I was quite impressed as it tasted like healthy, chocolatey fudge. I wasn’t impressed by the presence of a trade marked ingredient, BioSprouts, because I wasn’t really sure what this was and that makes an Allergy Parent nervous.
INGREDIENTS: Ecuadorian Arriba raw cacao butter and powder, dates, walnuts, natural fruit extracts (apples, grapes, carob), raisins, Brazil nuts, goji berries, raw cacao nibs, Madagascan boubon vanilla, Himalayan salt.
There were some differing opinions on this. Little loved his first piece and came back for more. Big hated it and spat it out. Then Little decided he didn’t like it either because he has to do everything his brother does! I thought it was much better than I was expecting; it was rich, but sweet, and yet intensely chocolatey.
