Such pretty packaging, such bland food. I think It was made from ground up cardboard and a soupcon of peanut butter.

Ollybars All Day Breakfast
Ingredients- gluten free oats, fruit extract (apple, carob, grape), dates, organic raisins, peanuts, Chia seeds, apricots, organic pumpkin seeds, organic coconut butter, apples, Brazil nuts, almonds, linseeds, FD raspberry, mixed spice, sesame, essence of oranges.
This was quite a chunky cereal bar with a challenging texture. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have any doubts about your dentistry. The pay off of this was that it was genuinely filling and could indeed be used as an emergency breakfast replacement. The combination of mixed spice and essence of orange also made me think of Christmas. The flavour was pleasant enough to make the effort of eating it worthwhile.
Sour Cream & Onion Cashews – Quibbles
Ingredients- cashew nuts, onion powder, salt, sugar, tapioca / maize starch, rice flour, yeast extract powder, natural flavourings, garlic powder, citric acid, chive.
Not sure what to say about these. I guess it is pretty impressive that these taste exactly like overly processed sour cream flavoured snacks, but without the use of dairy. But then it tastes overly processed. It would have been better to eat a banana.
Waitrose love life free from 2 chocolate muffins
INGREDIENTS- sugar, dark chocolate chips (cocoa mass, sugar, soya lecithin, flavouring), rice flour, rapeseed oil, egg, vegetable glycerine, cocoa powder, potato starch, rice starch, diphosphates and sodium carbonate, maize starch, sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate, water, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, salt, flavouring.
These were very sugary, but exactly what I needed after a night of interrupted sleep (courtesy of Allergy Little). The texture was a little odd and quite dry. I might buy these again, but they won’t be my first choice.
Polar Dream White (milk less white chocolate)
Dr Oetker Kook Pudding Room
Ingredients- sugar, cornflour, salt, flavouring, beta-carotine.
I made this up using almond milk, and it was okay. I managed to follow the instructions using my rudimentary Dutch. Allergy Little tried a bit with chocolate sprinkles. Allergy Niece (just being weaned) also polished off quite a bit. Nice but not worth buying again
The Cool Chile Company
We find that Mexican food can be really good for gluten free eating. We buy fresh corn tortillas from the Cool Chile Company. The tortillas arrive in big vacuum packed bags that go straight in the freezer. We then peel off the individual tortillas as we want them. After a few minutes in a hot pan, we have fresh and warm tortillas. As far as I know the Cool Chile Company is the only place in the UK to buy fresh tortillas. www.coolchile.co.uk
Caveman Cookies – New World flavour
Ingredients- maple syrup, honey, almond meal, pecan meal, dried cranberries (cranberries, apple juice concentrate, sunflower oil), pumpkin seeds, spices.
These are individually wrapped so they make an ideal lunch box food. The only thing is that the cookies are very soft so you are not going to be able to keep them in the bottom of a bag for an emergency as you will just have crumbs. The cookies are small, but they pack quite a sugar hit so are enough to perk you up. They taste delicious as well.
